Certified School Nurse

As a K-8 school-based Certified School Nurse, your days will include:

• Provide comprehensive school nursing services that support the health, safety, and academic success of students.
• Assess student health needs, respond to illness and injury, and provide appropriate first aid and emergency care.
• Administer medications and treatments in accordance with provider orders, parent authorization, and school policies.
• Develop and maintain individualized healthcare plans, emergency action plans, and accurate confidential health records.
• Conduct or coordinate required health screenings, immunization compliance, and follow-up services.
• Collaborate closely with the district's current Certified School Nurse, families, educators, administrators, and community providers.
• Help coordinate health services across an early learning center and five elementary schools within a K-8 district.

Job Details

• Position: Two contract openings through the end of the school year
• Hours: Full-time, typically 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.; part-time candidates will also be considered
• Caseload: K-8 district serving approximately 3,000 students
• Assignment: Work with the current CSN to divide building coverage, including an early learning center and five elementary schools
• Interview: Virtual interviews available as soon as possible
• Work Setting: On-site; virtual and hybrid candidates are not accepted

Successful Candidates Possess

• An active Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a Certified School Nurse (CSN) endorsement (required)
• The ability to collaborate effectively while coordinating services across multiple school buildings
• Strong clinical judgment, organization, communication, and documentation skills
• Experience in pediatric, community, or school nursing (preferred)
• The ability to work in the U.S. without a sponsor
• Note: new graduates and early-career candidates with the required CSN and PEL credentials are welcome to apply
