Job Title: Travel RN - PCU Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of acute care hospital PCU experience License: Current RN License Certifications: BLS & ACLS Must-Have: - Minimum 1 year of current acute care hospital PCU experience - BLS and ACLS certification Description: This position is for a travel registered nurse specializing in the progressive care unit. The unit consists of 20 beds and is staffed by approximately 40 personnel. Staffing includes 1 charge nurse and 5 nurses on day shift, and 1 charge nurse and 5 nurses on night shift. Patient ratios are estimated at 1:4, with the charge nurse free of patients. The unit handles a variety of equipment including vents, feeding pumps, IV pumps, wound vacs, specialty beds, suction, and chest tubes. The electronic medical record system used is Meditech/CPN. Typical procedures performed on this unit include placing chest tubes and managing trauma patients with tracheostomy care and suction needs. The ideal candidate is a team player who thrives in a highly acute patient population and enjoys challenges. This unit is a level 1 trauma center that deals with highly complex and interesting patients.
