Staff Accountant

This is a staff position that reports directly to the Accounting Manager. This position is responsible for maintaining a proactive and efficient approach to all aspects of General Accounting including but not limited to the following:Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Account Reconciliation:Prepare Monthly Account ReconciliationsFixed Assets/Construction in Progress (CIP)Lease AmortizationCapital Improvement worksheets (Budgets/Actuals)Bank ReconciliationsOther reconciliations as assignedAccounts Payable:Record, audit and pay construction related invoicesRecord Athletics’ checksAccounts Payable backupManage the purchasing system (WebPortal) run, distribute and follow up on POsProvide support to credit card users and record transactions - backupFixed Assets/ Construction in Progress (CIP)/Capital Improvements:Review, track and transfer Capital Improvements to Fixed Assets/CIPMaintain Budget schedule of Capital Improvements and pending expendituresTrack completion of project to move to Fixed AssetsRun Depreciation and record journal entryUpdate Inventory records Additions and Dispositions in Fixed AssetsTrack and budget Carry-over projectsProvide Capital Improvement oversight and forecast to budget managers as directed by the Accounting ManagerGeneral Accounting and other responsibilities:Monitor credit card refunds and match to authorization formAssist in the preparation the Fixed Asset audit notes and other notes as neededPrepare and file intangible Personal Property State FormsUpdate Property Tax Schedule and ensure taxes are paid on-timeComplete the Closing Activities by the closing date assignedOrder Business Office supplies and manage off-site storage, including shreddingDeposit payments (bank and office transactions) must be available on the last working day of the calendar yearProvide support to the Accounting Manager and Director of FinanceProvide documentation and support to the Auditors as directed by the Director of FinancePerformance Factors:Attendance and Dependability: The employee can be depended on to report to work at the schedule time and is seldom absent from work. Employee can be depended upon to complete work in a timely, accurate, and thorough manner and is conscientious about assignments.Communication and Contact: The employee communicates effectively both verbally and in writing with superiors, colleagues and individuals inside and outside the School.Relationships with Others: The employee works effectively and relates well with others including superiors, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside of the School. The employee exhibits a professional manner in dealing with others and works to maintain constructive working relationships.Required Education and/or Experience:BA in AccountingProficient in Excel and WordExcellent Organization and Prioritizing SkillsSolid Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting PrincipleMinimum 5-year experience in the field of AccountingContinuous education and training in the field of Accounting & Finance through seminars and workshops is required.
