Registered Nurse Palliative Care

Schedule

Shift options: Days/Nights or Nights; 12-hour rotating contracts available. Patient ratios: 4:1 (Days, Nights, Weekends). Weekend coverage as needed.

Assignment Details

Unit: 12-bed medical-surgical palliative care unit providing symptom management and comfort-focused care. Orientation: 72 hours.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years current acute care RN experience required.
• Epic charting experience required.
• ACLS certification (confirmation with the account manager may be necessary).
• Experience in symptom and pain management (both pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic).
• Competence in med-surg skills (IV start/maintenance, oxygen/non-invasive airway, basic dysrhythmia recognition).
• Ability to work with high-acuity med-surg populations.

Responsibilities

• Provide symptom management and patient-centered end-of-life support.
• Assist in managing uncontrolled pain, severe nausea/vomiting, failure to thrive, and fatigue.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including IV, PT, respiratory, social work, and pharmacy.
• Conduct assessments and establish care plans based on patient needs.

Compliance / Notes

Flu vaccine is required; medical exemptions only. COVID-19 vaccine is not required. Immediate completion of credentialing items is necessary following booking.
