Make a meaningful difference in the lives of students by supporting communication and learning in an after-school environment. This contract opportunity seeks an ASL Paraprofessional who brings a passion for working with children and a strong command of sign language. You’ll be a vital support to students, fostering an inclusive and engaging climate at various educational sites.
Schedule runs from 2:30 PM to 6:00 PM on weekdays, averaging 20-24 hours each week—perfect for those seeking a consistent, part-time role. Formal EIPA certification is not required; however, proficiency in American Sign Language is a must.
Qualifications:
- Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Previous paraprofessional experience, especially in school settings, is highly valued
- Comfortable collaborating with students and educational staff
- Adaptable to different site locations and student needs
- Committed to creating a positive, accessible environment
Responsibilities:
- Facilitate effective communication between students who use sign language and other members of the school community
- Assist students with classroom tasks, activities, and after-school programming
- Support individual students in meeting their educational and social goals
- Adjust strategies to meet varying levels of student ability
- Maintain a respectful, encouraging, and collaborative atmosphere
