Job Title: Electrical Estimator

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Electrical Estimator to join a growing construction estimating team. This role is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for electrical construction projects across commercial, industrial, and institutional sectors. The Estimator will manage the full bid lifecycle-from initial document review through final submission-ensuring completeness, accuracy, and competitiveness of all proposals.

The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, the ability to interpret technical drawings, and experience in electrical construction estimating or field operations. This position plays a key role in supporting project success and improving estimating accuracy through collaboration with project management and field teams.

Key Responsibilities

Bid Preparation

• Review drawings, specifications, addenda, and project documents to fully understand scope requirements.
• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for electrical materials including conduit, wiring, fixtures, panels, and related systems.
• Apply labor units and adjust for project complexity, phasing, and site conditions.
• Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing.
• Identify scope gaps, alternates, and value engineering opportunities.
• Clearly document assumptions, exclusions, and clarifications for each estimate.

Pre-Bid & Site Activities

• Participate in pre-bid meetings, site walks, and project briefings.
• Document field conditions through notes, photos, and markups.
• Submit RFIs during bid phases when clarification is required.

Bid Submission

• Prepare complete bid packages including cost breakdowns, proposals, and supporting documentation.
• Ensure timely submission of accurate and competitive bids.
• Maintain organized bid records and updated bid tracking logs.

Project Handoff & Support

• Prepare turnover documentation for project management teams upon award.
• Provide clarification of estimating assumptions during project execution.
• Support field and project teams as needed during construction phases.
• Participate in post-project reviews to improve future estimating accuracy.

Qualifications

Required

• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple bids and meet strict deadlines.
• Willingness to travel to job sites for walkthroughs as needed.

Preferred

• Prior experience in electrical estimating or construction estimating.
• Field experience as an electrician or electrical technician.
• Familiarity with electrical estimating software (Accubid, ConEst, McCormick, or similar).
• Experience using Bluebeam or similar takeoff tools.
• Understanding of commercial or industrial electrical construction projects.
