Role Description The Registered Nurse will provide direct nursing care to incarcerated individuals in a secure correctional environment, ensuring timely assessment, treatment, and follow-up for acute and chronic health conditions. Daily responsibilities include conducting health screenings, administering medications, performing wound care and other clinical procedures, and monitoring patients for changes in condition. The nurse will collaborate with physicians, mental health professionals, and other interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement care plans, document clinical encounters, and support continuity of care. The role also involves health education, infection control practices, emergency response, and adherence to all relevant policies, regulations, and standards of care. This is a full-time, on-site role located in the Greater Boston area, requiring consistent presence in the facility and close coordination with custody and healthcare staff. Qualifications Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing; eligibility for licensure in Rhode Island if not already obtained. Clinical skills in patient assessment, medication administration, wound care, and management of acute and chronic conditions. Knowledge of correctional or institutional healthcare, including safety protocols, infection control, and emergency response. Strong communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and diverse populations. Ability to maintain professional boundaries, exercise sound judgment, and uphold ethical and legal standards of nursing practice. Experience in medical-surgical, emergency, psychiatric, or community health nursing is highly beneficial. Familiarity with electronic health records and basic computer skills for accurate and timely charting. Ability to work full time on-site, including possible evenings, weekends, or holidays, as required by facility operations. CPR/BLS certification; ACLS or other relevant certifications are a plus.
