Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical

Job Description

Job Summary:
Provide specialized nursing care to adult patients in a medical-surgical unit with a focus on oncology and general surgery cases. Offer compassionate patient support while maintaining high standards of clinical practice.

Responsibilities:

• Deliver comprehensive med/surg nursing care to patients, including oncology treatments and chemotherapy procedures.
• Monitor patient vital signs every 8 hours, with adjustments for remote tele patients every 4 hours.
• Administer chemotherapy and other medications following strict safety protocols, ensuring chemo-certified nurses perform these tasks.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and update patient care plans.
• Educate patients and families about treatments, medication management, and post-discharge care.
• Maintain accurate documentation of patient assessments, interventions, and responses in Meditech EMR.

Qualifications:

• Hold a valid RN license with a minimum of 2 years of recent acute care hospital experience in medical-surgical units.
• Possess at least 1 year of current Med/Surg experience.
• Have BLS certification; chemos and ACLS preferred.
• Demonstrate proficiency in standard med/surg procedures, including chemo administration.
• Exhibit a positive attitude and strong teamwork skills.
• Be willing to work the 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM night shift.
