Job Title: Seamstress Job Description

The Seamstress/Fabric Worker is responsible for the fabrication, alteration, repair, and finishing of military uniforms, ceremonial garments, and specialty apparel for the United States Military Academy at West Point. This role requires exceptional attention to detail, precision sewing skills, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of craftsmanship, appearance, and durability. The ideal candidate is experienced in garment construction, industrial sewing equipment, pattern interpretation, and quality control.

• Construct, alter, and repair military uniforms, dress uniforms, ceremonial attire, and specialty garments.
• Measure, cut, sew, and assemble fabric components according to specifications and approved patterns.
• Operate industrial sewing machines, sergers, pressing equipment, and other textile production tools.
• Perform garment fittings and make necessary alterations to ensure proper fit and professional appearance.
• Attach military insignia, patches, rank devices, braids, buttons, and decorative trim according to established standards.
• Inspect completed garments for quality, accuracy, durability, and compliance with military specifications.
• Repair damaged uniforms, replace zippers, buttons, closures, and other garment components.
• Maintain accurate production records and track work orders.
• Organize fabrics, supplies, and materials to support efficient production schedules.
• Adhere to workplace safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.
• Collaborate with team members, supervisors, and customers to ensure timely completion of orders.

• Minimum of 2 years of sewing, tailoring, garment manufacturing, or textile production experience.
• Proficiency in operating industrial sewing machines and garment construction equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret patterns, measurements, specifications, and production instructions.
• Strong hand-sewing, alteration, and finishing skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Ability to meet production deadlines while maintaining accuracy.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.

You will work in a dynamic and collaborative environment where the use of industrial sewing machines, sergers, and other textile production tools is essential. The role requires adherence to safety procedures and maintaining a clean, organized workspace. You will engage with team members and supervisors to ensure the timely completion of orders.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Newburgh, NY.

The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $37.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Newburgh,NY.
