Registered Nurse – IMC / PCU / Stepdown (General Medicine / Observation)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Nights | 3x12-hour shifts, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM | Weekend requirement: every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling block | One holiday required per 13-week contract

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a PCU / stepdown setting with patient ratios of 1:4–5
• Perform cardiac monitoring, interpret and manage dysrhythmias, and respond to emergencies utilizing Rapid Response and Code teams
• Administer cardiac drips (including Cardizem, Heparin, Insulin, low-dose dopamine/dobutamine, Amiodarone, Nitro, Bumex, and Lasix) without titration
• Perform IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care including PICC line management
• Provide competent care involving chest tubes, trach care, and medication administration
• Manage respiratory support including nasal cannula, oxygen administration, CPAP, BiPAP, and non-invasive airway management; float within skillset as required

Required Qualifications

• Active Virginia state RN license or active Compact RN license required; pending license accepted only if candidate holds a single-state license from a non-compact state
• ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Proficiency with Epic EMR required
• Minimum experience in telemetry, PCU, DOU, IMC, or stepdown clinical settings
• Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility may be considered for one 13-week assignment with no eligibility to extend; candidates residing 50–99.9 miles away may also be considered for one 13-week assignment with no eligibility to extend; candidates residing within 100 miles are generally considered local — please confirm eligibility prior to submission

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior travel nursing experience welcomed; first-time travelers are also considered
• Familiarity with tele-sitting workflows and remote telemetry monitoring environments
• Experience working in a Magnet-designated or Level I Trauma Center hospital setting
