SBA Loan Assistant

To assist SBA Loan Director and other SBA Lenders with medium to large portfolios that have moderate to complex degree of difficulty in their daily duties including; to make or assist with customer calls, to help prepare memos and provide service related to existing and proposed loan requests, to obtain and/or prepare loan documents, work with outside service providers to arrange loan closings, providing high level customer service support, and performing special projects as directed by management.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

E25% Assists SBA Loan Director and SBA lenders with SBA transactions including; preparing package for ABRIGO submission and underwriting on new loans and renewals, research and prepares required CAM components per requirements for SBA 7(a) Small Loans and SBA 7(a) Large Loans, gathering and tracking necessary documentation related to underwriting package and closing preparation. Meets with applicant during initial loan request discussions to assist in determining proper documentation requirements.

E20% Assists and works with SBA lenders at loan closings, including working with title companies, closing attorneys and insurance agents; assists with the closing of less complex SBA loans as may be necessary at the request of SBA lenders.

E15% Calls on business clients/prospects in partnership with the SBA lenders to develop new business relationships.

E10% Suggests new products and services to clients after probing for possible needs.

E10% Maintains monthly SBA pricing sheet to keep current on required SBA fees and loan pricing.

E10% Reviews monthly and quarterly loan compliance on transactions as well as required financial statements and reports as may be necessary per SBA loan approvals.

E5% Assists with and prepares quarterly reporting on SBA loans with a split risk rating of 5 or greater on a quarterly basis as needed.

N5% Performs other job related duties as assigned.

Performance Measurements:

2. Ensure the department remains in compliance with all applicable Federal, State, and Lending regulations, policies and procedures.

3. To maintain the confidentiality of customer and any other sensitive information.

4. Ensure all activities within the department are carried out within prescribed time frames.

5. To adhere to credit policy guidelines when assisting with the structuring of loan terms.

6. To communicate with Relationship Manager and Borrower's in a congenial, helpful and timely manner.

Knowledge and Skills:

Experience: Five years to eight years of similar or related experience.

Education: 1) A two-year college degree, or (2) completion of a specialized certification or licensing, or (3) completion of specialized training courses conducted by vendors, or (4) job-specific skills acquired through an apprenticeship program.

Interpersonal Skills: Work involves extensive personal contact with others and is of a personal or sensitive nature. Motivating, influencing, and/or training others is key at this level. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others.

Other Skills: Commercial loan documentation skills including understanding of certain documents used in loan transactions. Proficiency with the bank's loan processing software. Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, especially Excel.

Physical Requirements: The person in this position needs to frequently move about inside the office to interact with associates or customers and access office machinery and file cabinets. The person in the position constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, photocopier, and printer.

Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment and may require travel to branches and other office buildings. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as calculators, computers, phones, photocopier, filing cabinets and fax machines.
