Job Description

This role in the Finishing Department focuses on operating fabrication and slitter equipment to inspect, process, and package laminated vinyl products according to detailed job specifications. You will work primarily on the 1st shift, using inspection machinery and related tools to identify defects, maintain accurate inventory data, and support safe, efficient production in a clean, organized manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate inspection machines to review laminated vinyl materials for defects, inconsistencies, or deviations from job specifications.
• Perform thorough visual inspections to identify and document product defects, ensuring all quality issues are accurately recorded.
• Report quality concerns and nonconformances to leadership in a timely and clear manner.
• Perform Syteline-related transactions to maintain accurate inventory records and ensure data integrity in the system.
• Set up, put up, and package inspected finished goods according to job specifications and customer requirements.
• Assist the material handler in loading master rolls onto the back of the inspection machine using appropriate equipment and safe handling practices.
• Use hand tools and equipment to complete machine changeovers and adjustments as needed for different products or jobs.
• Operate slitter and related finishing equipment in a safe and efficient manner to meet production and quality standards.
• Support quality inspection processes by following established procedures and documenting results as required.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area, following safety and housekeeping guidelines at all times.
• Work safely by adhering to company policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and safety regulations to reduce risks and ensure a safe working environment.
• Collaborate with team members to meet production goals and support a positive, team-oriented work culture.
• Develop the capability to perform all work tasks in the department and assist in training others as needed.
• Participate in training programs such as forklift certification and hoist training to support safe and effective operations.
• Perform all other duties as assigned to support departmental and company objectives.

Essential Skills

• High School Diploma or GED.
• At least 2+ years of machine operating experience in a manufacturing facility.
• Prior experience in manufacturing or quality inspection preferred.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify product defects and inconsistencies.
• Ability to perform accurate visual inspections of laminated vinyl and related materials.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Capability to perform all work tasks in the department and to train others once proficient.
• Good math skills and the ability to use a tape measure accurately.
• Machine operation experience, including finishing, slitting, or similar equipment.
• Forklift operating skills or the ability and willingness to become forklift certified.
• Ability to use hand tools and perform machine changeovers.
• Comfort using inspection machines and related production equipment.
• Mechanically inclined with the ability to learn and troubleshoot basic mechanical issues.
• Ability to work scheduled shifts of 5:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, with some Fridays as required for the 1st shift role, or 3:00 p.m.–1:00 a.m., Monday through Thursday, with some Fridays required for other shift coverage as needed.
• Ability to work safely in a non–temperature-controlled manufacturing environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with fabric welding machines is highly desirable and may support higher-level placement and pay progression.
• Experience with slitter operation, printing, or similar finishing processes is a plus.
• Familiarity with Syteline or similar ERP/inventory systems is beneficial.
• Comfort working with flexible PVC composite textiles or similar materials is an advantage.
• Willingness to participate in forklift certification training provided by the employer.
• Willingness to participate in hoist training and follow all material handling safety practices.
• Interest in long-term growth, including progressing through a structured Level 1–7 machine operator system.
• Strong reliability, work ethic, and commitment to continuous improvement in a production environment.

Work Environment

The facility is a clean, well-organized, and well-lit manufacturing environment with clearly laid-out workspaces and warehouse racking typically 4–5 levels high. The building is not temperature controlled, but measures are in place to help manage seasonal conditions, and it is not described as freezing in the winter. Employees work with inspection machines, slitter equipment, fabric welding machines (for experienced operators), forklifts, hoists, and various hand tools, following established safety and housekeeping guidelines. Typical schedules include a 1st shift of 5:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, with some Fridays scheduled as needed, and a 2nd shift of 3:00 p.m.–1:00 a.m., Monday through Thursday, with some Fridays required. Everyone receives forklift certification and hoist training, and safety is reinforced through a formal safety committee. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Emigsville, PA.

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.
