About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Telemetry Duration: 6 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Proficient in EKG interpretation and blood administration - Experience with cystic fibrosis and sickle cell patients preferred - Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills - Ability to titrate drips Description: This is a busy, high-acuity unit. Registered Nurses are expected to be flexible with scheduling. Floating to other units may be required based on staffing needs. Daily responsibilities include managing surgical overflow and post-operative care. Nurses will encounter patients with various diagnoses, including cystic fibrosis and sickle cell disease. Wound care experience, particularly with pressure injuries, is essential. Staff may have to respond to codes and comfort measures. Common procedures include blood transfusions and medication administration. Telemonitoring technology is available, and staff must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips. There is a charge nurse and a unit secretary available on all shifts. Patient care associates may assist with vital signs and other tasks as needed. Communication with medical staff is vital, and staff should be proactive in patient assessments. The unit utilizes a buddy system for breaks to ensure continuous patient care. Shifts will be scheduled based on the needs of the unit, and self-scheduling is not an option. Weekend shifts are required within a designated timeframe. Candidates should be team players and demonstrate effective communication skills. The use of walkie-talkies for on-floor communication is expected. Previous experience in a busy hospital environment is desirable.
