Gym Operations Manager – Anytime Fitness

 

Location: Lavon, TX
Employment Type: Full-Time
Reports To: Owner
Start Date: The anticipated start date for this position is, at the earliest, September 21. However, the actual start date will depend on the gym’s construction and opening timeline and could be in September, October, or potentially even later.

Compensation: $45,000–$55,000 base salary, plus performance-based incentives with target bonus potential of approximately 20% of base salary.

About the Role

Anytime Fitness in Lavon, TX, is looking for a friendly, motivated, and reliable Gym Operations Manager. The Gym Operations Manager will serve as the Owner's principal operational representative and will be responsible for the day-to-day administration, management, and operation of the gym.

The Gym Operations Manager is expected to exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance while working under the general direction of the Owner. Although the Owner retains ultimate authority regarding strategic business decisions, the Gym Operations Manager is expected to independently manage the daily operations of the facility and provide recommendations regarding operational, personnel, financial, and business matters that are given substantial consideration by management.

As the business grows, the Gym Operations Manager will recruit and supervise additional employees and will assume increasing responsibility for personnel management.

The Gym Operations Manager will be responsible for driving membership growth, creating a positive member experience, and representing the club on social media.

This role is built around four key areas: Sales, Member Experience, Operations, and Social Media and Marketing.

Sales

• Monitor membership trends and recommend strategies to build membership.
• Develop procedures for membership sales and registration.
• Give club tours and explain membership options.
• Follow up with leads by phone, text, email, and in person.
• Help prospective members choose the right membership.
• Support presale, grand opening, and local outreach efforts.
• Work toward membership and revenue goals.

Sales experience is preferred but not required. The right person should be comfortable talking to people, building relationships, and asking for the sale.

Member Experience

• Recommend strategies for improving member experience and retention.
• Develop policies and procedures to improve member satisfaction.
• Create a friendly, welcoming, and supportive gym environment.
• Build relationships with members and help new members feel comfortable.
• Develop and implement strategies to encourage member engagement and participation.
• Exercise discretion in resolving member questions, concerns, and feedback professionally.
• Set the tone and culture of the club.

The ideal candidate should be outgoing, approachable, and able to make people feel welcome regardless of fitness level.

Operations

• Manage day-to-day club operations.
• Develop policies and procedures for successful operation of the facility.
• Identify operational issues and independently develop practical solutions.
• Ensure the facility maintains a clean, organized, and professional appearance.
• Ensure the completion of daily operational and administrative tasks.
• Manage scheduling, supplies, vendor communication, and staff coordination.
• Evaluate vendors and recommend purchasing decisions.
• Coordinate maintenance and repair of equipment as necessary.
• Recommend capital improvements and equipment acquisitions as necessary.
• Recommend operational improvements designed to improve profitability, efficiency, and member experience.
• Manage and supervise hourly gym employees.
• Assist the Owner with financial planning and operational forecasting.

The right person should be dependable, organized, and willing to take ownership of the club’s daily standards.

Social Media and Marketing

• Assist in implementing marketing initiatives.
• Recommend promotional strategies designed to increase memberships and member retention.
• Create simple, authentic social media posts.
• Share gym updates, promotions, events, and member milestones.
• Develop relationships with local businesses and community organizations.
• Be comfortable appearing on camera.
• Make the gym feel active, approachable, and connected to the local community.
• Identify opportunities for business growth.
• Evaluate marketing effectiveness and recommend adjustments.

Professional marketing experience is not required. We are looking for someone who is comfortable with social media and willing to be creative.

Required Qualifications

• 18 years of age or older.
• Available to work flexible hours.
• Friendly, outgoing, and comfortable building relationships with members and prospects.
• Ability to organize and manage business operations.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment and make independent decisions.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
• Organized, reliable, and detail-oriented.
• Comfortable using basic technology, including Microsoft Office.
• Ability to learn new software and gym management systems.
• Comfortable using social media.
• Interest in fitness, health, and helping people improve their lives.
• Ability to obtain CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior gym, retail, hospitality, sales, management, or customer service experience.
• Leadership or team management experience.
• Experience creating simple social media content or appearing on camera.
• Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1–3 years of sales or management experience preferred.

Schedule

• Schedule will be based on club needs, peak member traffic, and presale/grand opening activity, including evenings and some weekends as needed.

Work Environment

• Work is performed in a customer-facing indoor gym setting with a low to moderate noise level.

Physical Requirements

• While the job is intended to be primarily non-manual in nature, while performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly required to stand, sit, walk, talk, hear, see, reach, stoop, kneel, and move throughout the facility.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
