Staff Accountant

Monitor the Accounting inbox and review, process, and enter all Accounts Payable (AP) transactions. Prepare, review, and submit Accounts Receivable (AR) invoices to customers in accordance with contract and billing requirements. Create, update, and maintain Accounting Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistent and effective accounting processes. Review subcontractor labor hours and supporting documentation; communicate with subcontractors and internal personnel to identify and resolve discrepancies. Support the Controller with general accounting activities, financial reporting, and other accounting-related projects as needed. General office support projects as assigned. Requirements Located in the DMV (DC, Maryland, Virginia) area and willing to come into our Silver Spring, MD office as needed Degree in Accounting or related field Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills Strong attention to detail and ability to identify and resolve discrepancies Self-starter with sound judgment, problem-solving skills, and business acumen Ability to work independently while also being comfortable asking questions and learning new processes. Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, including formulas, PivotTables, and basic data analysis Internship or prior work experience in an accounting or finance role. Interest in developing knowledge of government contracting Core Competencies Demonstrates expertise in Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes, with strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
