Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery

Job Description

Job Summary:

Provide specialized nursing care to laboring and postpartum patients in a Birth Center setting. Utilize critical thinking and clinical expertise to ensure patient safety, comfort, and positive outcomes during labor, delivery, and recovery.

Responsibilities:

• Assess fetal and maternal status continuously to identify any complications or deviations from normal progress.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans for laboring patients.
• Supervise and direct nursing staff, including CNAs, LPNs, and technicians, to ensure high-quality patient care.
• Document patient conditions, responses to treatment, and progress accurately and promptly in the EMR system.
• Assist with labor and delivery procedures, including newborn resuscitation, and provide postpartum postpartum care for mothers and babies.
• Maintain up-to-date certifications and comply with hospital policies and safety standards.

Qualifications:

• Possess a current MI RN license and American Heart Association BLS certification.
• Demonstrate at least 2 years of recent experience in a Birth Center or labor and delivery unit.
• Have experience with laboring patients, delivery, and postpartum care, including newborn care.
• Prior travel experience preferred; must have own vehicle and current skills checklist pertinent to specialty.
• Be willing to obtain NRP certification if not already active.
• Submit current Supervisory Reference Forms completed within the last two years.
