Assistant General Counsel

We are working with a Charlotte based client on an Assistant General Counsel role. This position will report directly to the General Counsel, and will serve as a key legal advisor across the company. The AGC will handle a portfolio of commercial contracts, partner closely with business teams, and help build the systems and processes that allow the client to move quickly without unnecessary legal risk. This is a high-impact, high-visibility role for a lawyer who is equally comfortable negotiating a complex commercial agreement, advising on a regulatory question, and mentoring junior team members. What You'll Do Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts, including vendor agreements, customer contracts, NDAs, and partnership agreements Advise internal stakeholders — Company's operating companies — on legal risk and strategy Support M&A transactions, due diligence processes, and corporate governance matters Manage and develop outside counsel relationships, ensuring quality and cost efficiency Build and maintain scalable legal processes, templates, and playbooks Monitor applicable laws and regulations and advise the business on compliance obligations Assist with board and investor matters, including preparing materials and maintaining corporate records Handle pre-litigation disputes and support any litigation management What We're Looking For J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar membership in good standing 2–8 years of legal experience Demonstrated experience negotiating and closing complex commercial contracts Strong business judgment and the ability to give clear, actionable legal advice Excellent written and verbal communication skills — you can explain legal risk without burying the business in caveats High degree of ownership and comfort operating with limited supervision in a fast-paced environment Collaborative, low-ego, and genuinely interested in the business you support #J-18808-Ljbffr Carolina Legal Staffing
