The unit consists of two sections with a total of 59 beds. Patient ratios are 1:4 to 1:5 during the day and 1:5 to 1:6 at night. Staffing includes available techs to assist in patient care. The unit is equipped with bipap machines, high flow oxygen, vapotherm, and various types of drips, including cardiac, heparin, and insulin. Documentation is managed through a specific medical system. The role requires flexibility in scheduling, including a commitment to work every other weekend. Floating to other units may be required. Patient experience standards include hourly rounding on days and every two hours during nights. The unit utilizes communication tools for patient engagement and experience. Experience with common procedures like peritoneal dialysis, thoracentesis, paracentesis, and tube insertions is required. Team collaboration and a supportive care culture are emphasized. Self-scheduling is available for team members to enhance work-life balance.
