Position: CNC Mechanical Technician

Client: SKF – Precision Manufacturing / Aerospace Components

Location: Muskegon, Michigan

Worksite Address: 2860 McCracken Street, Muskegon, MI On-site (full-time)

Duration: Direct Placement

Pay Rate: $24–$28/hr

Work Hours: 2nd (3:00 PM–11:00 PM) or 3rd shift (11:00 PM–7:00 AM)

• Must be fully committed to off-shift long-term (non-negotiable)
• ~3 months training on 1st shift before transition

Must-Haves

• Background in an industrial, factory, or production environment (any type of manufacturing experience considered)
• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude — hands-on experience with tools, equipment, or machinery (e.g., auto repair, fabrication, assembly, or general shop work)
• Stable work history — minimum of 2+ years with a single employer; no significant employment gaps
• Willingness to work 2nd or 3rd shift long-term

Plusses

• Any exposure to CNC equipment (lathes, grinders, machining centers) — even limited experience is valued
• Familiarity with precision measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, or gauges
• Experience reading or interpreting blueprints or technical drawings
• Background sourced from or education completed at Muskegon Community College or a similar technical/vocational program
• Candidates who express a genuine desire to grow within a company long-term and build a career in precision manufacturing

Day-to-Day

The ideal candidate is a reliable, hardworking individual with a solid industrial background who is eager to learn and grow within a precision manufacturing environment. This person will join a team of 35–37 CNC technicians on the shop floor, supporting ongoing production operations under the direction of the department supervisor. The primary purpose of this role is to operate and monitor production equipment while maintaining the strict quality and dimensional standards required for defense-grade components. Because this client produces parts used in highly regulated applications, attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy are essential. All technical training — including CNC operation, blueprint reading, and precision measurement — will be provided on the job, making this an excellent opportunity for a motivated candidate who is ready to invest in a long-term career in advanced manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor CNC and related production equipment during assigned shifts
• Perform real-time adjustments to machinery to ensure parts meet dimensional and quality specifications
• Conduct quality inspections throughout the production process to identify and address any deviations
• Follow established procedures for machine setup, parameter monitoring, and part handling
• Participate in on-the-job training for CNC operation, precision measurement tools, and blueprint reading
• Collaborate with team members and supervisors to maintain a safe, organized, and efficient shop floor
• Maintain accurate production records and communicate any equipment or quality concerns to the appropriate team lead
