Registered Nurse - ICU

Job Description

Job Summary:

Provides expert bedside nursing care to ICU patients while collaborating with physicians to develop and implement effective care plans. Oversees and delegates tasks to support staff, ensuring optimal patient outcomes and compliance with clinical standards.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with physicians to develop and implement comprehensive care plans to promote patient recovery.
• Provide bedside nursing care, administer medications, and carry out medical orders accurately.
• Delegate tasks and oversee Nurse Assistants, Patient Care Associates, and other support staff to ensure quality care delivery.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of care plans and modify strategies based on patient response and evolving clinical needs.
• Communicate clearly with patients, families, and healthcare team members regarding treatments, progress, and discharge instructions.
• Lead patient and discharge planning conferences, ensuring ongoing education and resource coordination.

Qualifications:

• Hold Michigan RN license and possess a minimum of 2 years ICU experience.
• Demonstrate proficiency with floating to Emergency Department (ED) and Step-down units.
• Maintain current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications.
• Preferred candidates have certifications such as TCAR, TNCC, CCRN, SCRN.
• Travel experience and neuro surgical or open-heart ICU experience are highly desirable.
