ASnapshot of Your Day As a Spindle Builder youwill be responsible for assembling the components that make up a Gas Turbinerotor, ensuring adherence to safe and efficient production processes. This includes a variety of part preparationsteps via glass bead blasting, crane lifts both at the individual componentlevel and fully assembly rotor level, precision measuring of components,support of blading and detailed blending. Your role will involve a commitmentto continuous improvement initiatives, including Six Sigma, 5S, and LeanManufacturing principles. HowYou’ll Make an Impact Provide critical crane support to the Rotor AssemblyShop, this includes training and acquiring a critical crane license. Glass bead blasting of service run components toprepare components for quality inspections. Using precision measuring equipment to confirm criticalfeatures of rotor components prior to assembly. Assist in stacking and tensioning of rotor spindlesusing tensioning equipment. Assist in blading of rotor spindles. Completion of blending repairs of service runcomponents to prepare them for re-use. WhatYou Bring High School Diploma or GED Required. 3-5 years' experience as an industrial/aviationmechanic/millwright Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain ForkTruck and Critical Lift (A) level crane licenses. Ability to manually lift up to 50 lbs for shortdurations, with or without reasonable accommodation. Ability to work with either written, oral, or graphicinstructions. Proven ability to use precision gages and set toolingto high accuracies, preferably on large diameters. Ability to obtain an ACT® WorkKeys® National CareerReadiness Certificate (Silver Level or higher) as part of the pre-hireassessment. Successful applicants must be able to pass standardhearing, vision, and pulmonary function tests or any other as required toperform the duties.
