Production Supervisor

Production Supervisor Lead a team to enhance thermal hardware production efficiency and quality standards. Location: Hawthorne, California, United States Compensation: $105,000 - $135,000 USD per year About The Role SpaceX is actively developing technologies to enable human life on Mars and the expansion of space exploration. This role supports that mission by improving production processes and quality standards. Responsibilities Supervise shop floor activity, including daily schedules and workflow Maintain Smartsheet updates on completion dates for all hardware deliveries Resolve material review board issues Lead and manage a staff of ~20 technicians, overseeing all performance management tasks Coordinate with engineering and other departments to minimize production interruptions Review work instructions and recommend changes when needed Identify training needs and develop training programs Provide required data and reporting to support departmental metrics and improvement objectives Monitor labor hours and overtime; implement improvement plans and time‑management initiatives with staff Communicate job expectations, plan, monitor, and appraise job results to achieve production goals Maintain workflow by monitoring steps of the process, setting processing variables, observing control points and equipment, and monitoring personnel and resources Develop and implement cost‑reduction processes and efficiency improvement measures Ensure product quality and conformance to specifications Ensure area compliance with AS9100 standards (or similar customer requirements) Improve area safety and efficiency through regular auditing and continuous improvement Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or 4+ years of professional experience in a manufacturing, production, or testing environment 1+ years of experience leading a team or project Preferred Skills and Experience Bachelor’s degree in an engineering field Familiarity with Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies Experience running kaizen events and coaching team initiatives Familiarity with design for manufacturability and failure mode effects analysis Experience scaling teams and processes from development to production Familiarity with balanced scorecards and data‑driven decision‑making to drive actions and behaviors Safety training and/or safety certifications Ability to adapt to constantly changing work assignments in a fast‑paced environment Excellent concentration and attention to detail with outstanding work efficiency and accuracy Effective verbal and written communication with engineering and production teams Additional Requirements Able to travel up to 20% for short and extended trips as needed Must be available for all shifts, extended hours, and weekends as needed (1st shift Monday to Friday, 8 AM – 6 PM) Must be able to stand for at least 8 hours per shift Must pass Air Force background checks for Cape Canaveral and Vandenberg Compensation and Benefits Supervisor salary range: $105,000 – $135,000 per year. Base salary is determined on a case‑by‑case basis based on knowledge, skills, education, and experience.
