PACU Registered Nurse (RN)

Applicants without an active State of HI license must apply for licensure upon acceptance of the offer. A valid Hawaii license is required by the start of the assignment.

Proof of flu vaccination or an approved application for medical or religious exemption is required prior to the contract start date. The flu vaccination may be administered during the employee health clearance appointment.

General Job Duties

• Provide care for patients in pre-operative, Phase I, and Phase II recovery.
• Monitor and care for patients post-surgery, demonstrating advanced knowledge of anesthesiology.
• Assess incision sites and track patient stability or complications.
• Utilize critical thinking skills to manage patient care effectively.
• Prior experience in critical care and surgical nursing is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a critical care RN (e.g., ER or ICU) may substitute for direct PACU experience.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association.
• A valid professional nursing license within the state of practice.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification is recommended and may be required for specific positions.
• Other specialty-related certifications (e.g., NIHSS, TNCC) are preferred and may be required.

Schedule Requirements

Shifts are variable, with hours ranging between 8, 10, and 12 hours for Days, Evenings, Nights, and Weekends/Holidays. Hours may vary between units (ASU and PACU), with no guarantee of hours or shift preference.

Holiday coverage is required.

Experience Requirements

A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience is required.
