• Managing Attorney - California Office (Commercial Litigation)

About the Opportunity

We are seeking an entrepreneurial and experienced attorney to lead the Firm's expansion into California and establish its new Los Angeles-area office, anticipated to be located in or near Century City.

This is a unique opportunity for a solo practitioner, established law firm partner, or small group of attorneys to join a growing, full-service law firm while playing a key role in building and shaping its California presence.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial litigation or another litigation-focused practice, along with the ability to handle matters for the Firm's existing clients. We also open to attorneys and small groups practicing in complementary areas, provided they bring meaningful litigation experience or have strong litigation capabilities within their team.

The successful candidate will have an established and portable book of business, strong client relationships, and an entrepreneurial mindset focused on growing both their practice and presence on the West Coast.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and Establish the California Office: Build, manage, and grow new Los Angeles-area office and establish the Firm's presence in the California market.

• Develop Existing Business : Maintain and expand an established client base, with an anticipated portable book of business of approximately $500,000 or more for an individual candidate.

• Manage Litigation Matters : Collaborate with attorneys across MSS offices to handle litigation matters for existing Firm clients while continuing to serve personal clients.

• Drive Business Development : Identify new business opportunities, develop client relationships, and expand the Firm's market presence.

• Promote Cross-Practice Collaboration : Leverage the Firm's full-service capabilities to cross-sell services and strengthen relationships across practice areas and offices.

• Support Strategic Growth : Participate in recruiting, identify complementary practices, and help build a strong California legal team.

• Shape the California Platform : Contribute to the long-term strategy, development, and growth of West Coast operations.

Ideal Candidate Qualifications

• Admitted to practice law in California, with substantial experience practicing in the state.

• Significant litigation experience, preferably in sophisticated commercial disputes or related practice areas.

• An established, portable book of business, with an anticipated value of approximately $500,000 or more for an individual candidate.

• Strong client relationships and a demonstrated record of business development.

• Ability and willingness to handle litigation matters originating from other MSS offices and clients.

• Entrepreneurial mindset with an interest in building and leading a new office.

• Strong leadership, collaboration, and practice management skills.

• A vision for expanding client relationships and leveraging the resources of a broader, full-service law firm.
