Permanent Chief Medical Officer (CMO) | Ahoskie, North CarolinaTinkBird Healthcare Staffing is seeking an experienced, Board-Certified physician to serve as Chief Medical Officer (CMO) for a well-established Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) serving underserved communities in northeastern North Carolina. This executive leadership position offers the opportunity to provide strategic clinical leadership across the organization while maintaining an active primary care practice.Job Type: Permanent, panel while serving in an executive leadership capacityLeadership & Administrative ResponsibilitiesProvide strategic clinical leadership and direction for Clinical ServicesParticipate as an active member of the Executive Team and leadership committeesDevelop strategic plans, departmental goals, provider objectives, and succession plansOversee the integration and coordination of clinical servicesLead the selection, development, training, supervision, and retention of medical staffOrient and mentor new physicians and advanced practice providersConduct and oversee regular clinical provider meetingsEstablish and maintain clinical policies, procedures, protocols, and standardsDevelop and implement clinical programs designed to improve workflows, productivity, quality, and patient careCollaborate with executive and clinical leadership on organizational planning and the health center's clinical strategyParticipate in development and presentation of the clinical activities budget, including staffing, equipment, and support needsDevelop clinical objectives and assist with implementation of the organization's health care planRepresent the clinical staff's needs, concerns, and policy recommendations to the CEO and Board of DirectorsParticipate in community activities and partnerships addressing community health needsProvide leadership in organizational problem-solving and medical decision-makingServe as the final medical authority on clinical issues when disputes ariseProvider Oversight & Medical Staff ResponsibilitiesSupervise, manage, and develop direct-report clinical staffOversee annual and periodic performance evaluations of clinical providersReview and recommend provider credentialing, privileging, and delineation of servicesDevelop qualifications, job descriptions, and evaluation standards for clinical personnelOversee peer review processes for medical and behavioral health providersEnsure medical records are accurate, complete, and compliant with established standardsCoordinate clinical assignments, rotations, call schedules, coverage, and leave approvalsEnsure providers are appropriately trained, supervised, and supportedMaintain strong relationships with medical, administrative, and support staffAddress provider productivity and performance concerns and support appropriate corrective actionParticipate in patient grievance resolution and medical malpractice claims managementQuality, Compliance & Risk ManagementLead and support the organization's Quality Improvement program as it relates to patient careDevelop and monitor quality improvement initiatives using protocols, guidelines, benchmarks, and best practicesSupport the organization's goals for improved access, quality, and reasonable costEnsure compliance with federal, state, and accrediting-body requirementsMaintain compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and other applicable regulatory requirementsProvide leadership for patient safety and risk management activitiesDevelop and monitor compliance and risk management plans and trainingOversee patient complaint investigations and medical malpractice claims managementSupport Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) workflows, policies, and accreditation activitiesParticipate in electronic medical record system development and improvementEnsure clinical operations align with FQHC requirements and applicable standardsClinical ResponsibilitiesMaintain a patient panel consistent with approximately 0.3 FTEProvide comprehensive primary care to pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patientsAssess patient conditions using clinical observation, medical records, patient/family interaction, and other relevant informationDiagnose and treat patients using appropriate medical knowledge, clinical judgment, and evidence-based practicesFollow up on patient needs and ensure timely, thorough careProvide clinical coverage during periods of staffing need or provider absenceCollaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support integrated, patient-centered careProvide clinical leadership for population health, behavioral health, and integrated care initiativesQualificationsMD or DO from an accredited medical schoolBoard Certified physicianActive, unrestricted North Carolina medical licenseCurrent DEA certificationCurrent BLS certificationMinimum 6 years of experience in a clinical, academic, or administrative capacityExperience in a primary care setting serving pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populationsClinical management and leadership experienceStrong community health/public health orientationExperience working within an FQHC environment strongly preferredProficiency with EHR systems and computer applicationsStrong organizational, leadership, analytical, and communication skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities and deadlinesAbility to develop, interpret, and implement clinical policies and proceduresAbility to establish effective relationships with providers, staff, patients, families, and community partnersBilingual English/Spanish skills preferredWork EnvironmentHybrid positionPrimarily office and clinical healthcare environmentPotential exposure to contagious diseases and other patient-related conditionsOccasional evening and weekend work may be requiredSome travel may be requiredStandard office equipment and electronic systems utilizedPosition
