PhD Internship Student - AI Data privacy

What you’ll do As a PhD student (f/m/d) you will work with a team of experienced researchers and data scientists on Foundation Models for structured business data. You will have the chance to work with some of the richest data sets available in the world to address real‑world problems. The focus is on privacy in Foundation Models on structured data. Design and evaluate experiments to assess and advance data privacy, such as inference attacks that aim to extract information from training data. Contribute to research that can be applied to SAP product development with potential for publication and broader impact in the privacy and machine learning community. What you bring You are a PhD student (f/m/d) at least in your second year or a PostDoc, ideally specializing in research in one of the following areas: Foundation Models on structured data or privacy‑preserving machine learning. Experience with a strong foundation in machine learning, including building systems utilizing deep learning, LLMs, and Foundation Models. Proficient in PyTorch, Python, and HuggingFace Transformers, with a good understanding of statistical analysis and shell programming. A strong publication record in recognized ML/NLP conferences or journals such as ACL, EMNLP, ICLR, ICML, NeurIPS is a plus. Fluency in English is required. Duration and location The internship will last at least 4 months but ideally 6 months and must take place in the first half of 2026.
