Job Title Financial Operations Specialist 2 Department Public Health | College Administration Location Cunz Hall (0293) – Hybrid work arrangement available. Job Overview The College of Public Health seeks a Financial Operations Specialist 2 to provide financial, post‑award, and operational support to divisions, faculty, and staff within the College Business Office. The role applies university and sponsor policies to ensure accurate processing, compliance, and timely customer service. Responsibilities Procurement, Payroll & Operational Oversight (50%) – Provide guidance on procurement and travel transactions, perform transaction entry and review for requisitions, payables, payroll, and other financial processes; serve as liaison to central university offices; support PCard administration, vendor setup, payroll‑related Workday transactions, and faculty effort summaries. Financial Management & General Ledger Oversight (35%) – Process financial transactions across all fund types; complete monthly reconciliations, account reviews, month‑end and year‑end close activities; prepare routine financial reports and budget‑to‑actual comparisons; monitor fund balances and initiate journal entries and adjustments. Sponsored Projects & Internal Awards – Post‑Award Administration – Provide post‑award financial support for grants and internal awards, monitor expenditures, prepare fiscal reports, review expenditures for allowability, support budgeting, personnel appointments, and audit documentation. Compliance, Internal Controls & Continuous Improvement (10%) – Apply financial policies and procedures, assist with internal control activities, identify process inefficiencies or risks, and support audit readiness. Team Support, Mentorship & Coverage (5%) – Offer coverage for other Business Office staff, participate in cross‑training, and contribute to a collaborative service‑oriented environment. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in accounting, finance, business administration, or related discipline. At least 2 years of relevant experience. Proficiency with Ohio State University accounting systems, including Workday, Tableau, and PI Portal. Experience with grant and sponsored project financial management. Strong analytical skills, computer proficiency, and the ability to manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines. Professionalism, teamwork, and strong communication skills at all organizational levels. Desired Qualifications 2–4 years of relevant experience beyond the minimum. Knowledge of general ledger accounting, policies, and procedures. Pay Range $55,700–$72,700 estimated annual salary; based on education, experience, internal equity, and budget allowance.
