Job Title: 1st and 2nd Shift Flux Core Welder

Job Description

This role focuses on welding and fitting heavy structural steel components used in buildings and construction projects. You will perform flux core .045 and MIG welding, read and interpret blueprints, and use quality tools to ensure precise fabrication. You will collaborate closely with experienced team members and architects to meet exact specifications and deliver high-quality structural components.

Responsibilities

• Weld heavy structural steel components for buildings and construction projects using flux core .045 and MIG processes.
• Interpret and work from blueprints, drawings, and specifications to fabricate and fit structural components accurately.
• Perform fitting and fabrication tasks to prepare materials for welding, ensuring correct dimensions, alignment, and fit-up.
• Use appropriate quality tools and measurement instruments to verify welds and fabricated components meet required standards.
• Work closely with architects to understand design requirements and adjust work based on their feedback.
• Collaborate with experienced welders and fitters to learn best practices and maintain consistent quality.
• Handle and weld various materials, including structural steel, stainless steel, and other metals as needed.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, following facility standards for safety and cleanliness.
• Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while operating welding and fabrication equipment.
• Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to enhance quality, efficiency, and workflow.

Essential Skills

• 3+ years of flux core or MIG welding experience.
• 3+ years of structural steel welding experience.
• Proficiency in flux core welding, including .045 wire.
• Proficiency in MIG welding on structural steel components.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings.
• Hands-on experience with structural steel fabrication and fitting.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality welds.
• Ability to work safely with welding and fabrication tools and equipment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with TIG welding.
• Experience working with stainless steel materials.
• Background in general metal fabrication and fitting.
• Experience working in smaller, clean fabrication facilities.
• Comfort working closely with architects, engineers, or designers to meet specifications.
• Strong teamwork skills and willingness to learn from experienced welders and fitters.

Work Environment

You will work in a smaller, clean, and well-maintained fabrication facility focused on heavy structural steel work. The environment emphasizes organization, safety, and quality workmanship. The role operates on either 1st shift (6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.) or 2nd shift (2:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.), providing structured hours in a production setting with welding, fitting, and fabrication equipment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Oak Creek, WI.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Oak Creek,WI.
