RN Clinical - Recovery Room - Per Diem 10 Hour Rotating Shifts (Non-Exempt) (Union)

Essential Duties Manages a variety of complex patient populations by utilizing evidence-based practice standards. Maintains physiological and behavioral functions, providing psychological and sociological support to patients and families during recovery. Focuses on the improvement and/or maintenance of the patient’s pre-surgical state. Consistently applies the nursing process and formulates and implements care plans. Performs skills essential to nursing action and explains health treatments to clients and families. Delegates tasks to support staff, evaluating effectiveness of care and modifying plans as needed. Acts as patient advocate, initiating advanced plans of care and supporting change decisions. Participates in professional practice development, including committees, research, policy review, and unit-based improvement projects. Demonstrates knowledge of current policies and shares awareness of new trends/technology. Provides age‑specific care and utilizes the six core steps of nursing (data collection, assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, evaluation). Collaborates with surgeons, co‑workers, and ancillary staff while providing direct care. Utilizes policies and procedures to support the RN’s scope of practice. Assists in establishing and maintaining performance improvement and quality control activities. Assists in orientation, training and continuing education of staff. Adheres to governing regulations such as hospital policies, Title 22 and JCAHO. Competent in utilizing Cerner Millennium to place physician orders. Performs other duties as assigned. Grandfathered from BSN if hired prior to 12/2019. 1 year prior PACU experience or one year in a high acuity Intensive Care setting immediately prior to application. Excellent communication skills in English (speak, read, write). Knowledge of medical procedures and conditions, with the ability to understand, follow and perform duties including whole blood collection and apheresis procedures according to administrative and clinical policies, regulations, and procedures. Committed to excellence in patient care and customer service. Ability to work independently with minimal direction and supervision. Preferred Qualifications Critical Care Nursing Certificate–CCRN (AACN) or CPAN. Required Licenses/Certifications Registered Nurse–RN (CA Board of Registered Nursing). Basic Life Support (BLS). Fire Life Safety Training (LA City). Card required upon hire and must be maintained within 30 days of hire and renewed before expiration. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
