RN Clinical - 7 E ICU - Part Time 12 Hour Day Shift (Non-Exempt) (Union)

Job Overview As an integral part of the interdisciplinary team, the Registered Nurse utilizes the nursing process to provide therapeutic care and is accountable for the coordination of patient care and patient/family education in a compassionate, supportive environment. Responsibilities Follow policies and procedures; access online manuals. Apply the Nursing Process: assess patients on admission, each shift, and with changes of condition; complete acuity daily at 0200/1400. Interpret assessment data, formulate Nursing Diagnoses. Develop and revise Plans of Care, document expected outcomes. Administer medication and IV therapy at prescribed intervals; perform patient care procedures per policy. Delegate tasks based on scope of practice and competency; act as patient advocate. Manage restraint use per policy, attempting non‑restraint alternatives first. Assure all orders from MDs are obtained and documented; complete Restraint Audit Form each shift. Maintain complete and accurate documentation on all flow sheets and chart forms (Admission Assessment, Pain scale, Daily flow sheet, Restraint, Diabetes, Education, Kardex, Care Plan, Fall Risk, Interviews, etc.). Provide patient/family education, room/unit orientation, and plan of care details; identify knowledge deficits and use MICROMEDEX information. Collaborate with Case Manager and physicians on discharge planning; ensure transfer paperwork and belongings are completed. Communicate effectively with the healthcare team, including shift reports, hand‑off reports, and facility e‑mail. Manage equipment safely (IV pump, feeding pump, PCA pump, epidural pump, compression devices, wound VAC, heating pad/pump). Observe regulatory requirements (Patient Safety Goals, HIPAA, OSHA, JCAHO, etc.). Implement specific clinical care for high acuity units such as ICU, step‑down, telemetry, cardiac, transplant, dialysis, psychiatric, and other specialized units as listed. Participate in professional development, committee work, unit projects, and quality improvement activities. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) or higher (grandfathered from BSN if hired prior to 12/2019). Minimum of 1 year acute inpatient hospital RN experience in the United States. Excellent communication skills (speak, read, write English proficiently). Knowledge of medical procedures and conditions; ability to perform duties such as blood collection and apheresis. Ability to work independently with minimal direction and supervision. Commitment to excellence in patient care and customer service. Preferred Experience ICU and telemetry experience for surgical units. Infusion unit experience for ICU. Licenses & Certifications Registered Nurse – RN (CA Board of Registered Nursing). Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – American Heart Association (required for ICU, step‑down, telemetry; must be obtained within 180 days for RN without prior experience). Fire Life Safety Training (LA City); complete within 30 days of hire. Additional certifications: Crisis Prevention Institute Instructor (Psychiatry), LPS Certification (within 90 days of eligibility). Salary Hourly rate range: $44.00 – $95.00.
