Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Smartphone to communicate with physicians via messaging app. Proficiency in nursing skills including IV starts, blood draws, NG tube placements, and ECG rhythm interpretation. Ability to interpret lab results and arterial blood gases. Management of ventilators, arterial lines, chest tubes, and central venous lines. Skills in assisting physicians with bedside procedures and conscious sedation. Effective communication with patients and families. Description: This position involves providing rapid response nursing care in a critical care setting. The nurse will float to other departments as needed, including medical-surgical and step-down units. The unit includes critical care and cardiovascular intensive care beds, with varying patient ratios. Equipment includes advanced monitoring systems, intravenous pumps, ventilators, and various specialty devices. The patient population includes adults and geriatric patients with a range of critical care diagnoses. Common diagnoses include respiratory failure, strokes, cardiogenic shock, and GI bleeds. The candidate must demonstrate excellent teamwork and communication skills. All required online learning and certifications must be completed. The dress code consists of royal blue scrubs, with allowances for neutral-colored tops. This role requires a high level of skill and the ability to function effectively in critical situations.
