We are looking for an experienced Senior Staff Accountant to support a growing care organization in Wisconsin. This contract-to-permanent opportunity is well suited for a hands-on accounting specialist who works confidently with limited oversight and enjoys improving financial processes. In this role, you will partner closely with the Controller and cross-functional teams to strengthen reporting accuracy, maintain reliable accounting records, and contribute to broader finance initiatives.

Responsibilities:
• Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports along with detailed supporting documentation to ensure complete and accurate reporting.
• Contribute to month-end and year-end closing activities by preparing entries, organizing schedules, and helping keep deadlines on track.
• Examine financial results, identify meaningful fluctuations, and research variances to support informed decision-making.
• Assist with audit preparation and provide requested schedules, reconciliations, and documentation for internal and external review.
• Review payroll accounting activity, including related journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations, to confirm accuracy.
• Reconcile bank accounts and other key balance sheet accounts while maintaining the integrity of the general ledger.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and ongoing financial analysis efforts by compiling data and preparing reporting materials.
• Recommend and help implement process enhancements that improve efficiency, accuracy, and consistency across accounting operations.
• Work with operational leaders and finance management to refine reporting practices, uphold accounting standards, and support internal controls.• At least 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a staff or senior accountant capacity.
• Strong working knowledge of general ledger accounting, journal entries, and account reconciliation practices.
• Experience handling or partnering on accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
• Proficiency with bank reconciliations and financial statement preparation.
• Familiarity with SAP or similar enterprise accounting software.
• Ability to analyze financial information, investigate discrepancies, and resolve issues with accuracy.
• Comfortable working independently while also collaborating effectively with leadership and cross-functional teams.
