A successful candidate possesses the following characteristics: Loves leadership and all of the challenges and triumphs that come with Has a keen eye for detail Is or can become passionate about the mission of teaching kids to swim and be safe around the water Has strong operational experience Understands the importance of building strong relationships Has some grass roots marketing experience Comfortable with on the spot problem solving in stressful situations Ability to quickly pivot or regroup when things don't go as planned Benefits: Competitive pay Paid Vacation Bonus Structure Positive Work Environment Retirement Contribution Requirements: Ability to work with children Some evenings until 8pm (~2/week) and one weekend day per week (5 hour shift, done by 2pm) 1+ Years of people management experience Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills Must pass background examinations (included with training) Duties and Responsibilities: Directs and controls the daily operations to ensure the school is running according to GSS standard operating procedures. Manages the staff to ensure high productivity, excellent performance and positive employee satisfaction. Onboarding: trains and oversees new staff to provide superior swim instruction and golden customer service to the students and families of GSS. Provides sales and marketing training to all qualified sales staff to better promote the program. Gains knowledge and experience with all technology programs to achieve a high level of competence to assist with booking, scheduling, reporting, and all administrative functions. Gains a high level of knowledge and experience in the GSS pool operations to ensure understanding and satisfaction of Goldfish members. Gains a high level of knowledge and experience in the GSS pump room operations necessary to maintain a safe and sanitary swim environment and troubleshoot as necessary. Believes in developing from within: actively seeks to coach and develop employees and believes in developing from within. Directs and oversees the implementation of the Emergency Action Plan and all safety procedures that pertain to the GSS facility and trains all current staff on the GSS EAP. Maintains current certifications and stays up-to-date professionally on the aquatics and management field. Fulfills other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Employer. Education/Experience: One or more years management experience required. High school diploma or GED is required. Bachelor's degree or higher preferred. Experience as a certified lifeguard, youth sports instructor/coach, camp counselor and/or childcare provider preferred. Two or more years as a swimming instructor preferred. Certificates and Licenses: Maintains active Lifeguard, CPR/AED and first Aid certification. NOT required when applying, but must be willing to achieve certification(s) in the first 60 days of employment. Certified Pool Operator certification and Lifeguard Instructor certification highly recommended. Work Environment: While performing this job, the employee is regularly exposed to heat and humidity.
