Structured Cabling Technician – CommercialAlterman Technologies (Special Systems Division) is seeking experienced Structured Cabling Technicians with 4+ years of commercial low-voltage experience to install, terminate, test, and troubleshoot structured cabling systems on commercial, industrial, and institutional projects.Qualified candidates will have hands-on experience with Category 5e, Category 6, Category 6A, fiber optics, cable pathways, and telecommunications infrastructure. We are looking for dependable technicians who take pride in their work, understand commercial construction environments, and can work efficiently with minimal supervision.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesRead and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and cabling diagramsInstall, terminate, and test Category 5e, Category 6, and Category 6A structured cabling systemsInstall cable pathways, J-hooks, basket tray, ladder racks, sleeves, and cable supportsPull, route, dress, label, and terminate copper and fiber optic cablingBuild out MDF/IDF rooms, including equipment racks, cabinets, patch panels, and cable management systemsPerform copper cable testing, certification, and troubleshootingAssist with fiber optic installation, termination, splicing, and testingIdentify and correct installation deficiencies to meet project specifications and industry standardsMaintain a safe, clean, and organized work environmentCoordinate with foremen, project managers, and other trades to complete installations efficiently and on scheduleUtilize computer-based applications for testing, documentation, and reportingQualificationsMinimum 4 years of commercial structured cabling or low-voltage installation experienceExperience working on commercial, industrial, or institutional construction projectsHands-on experience installing and terminating Category 6 and Category 6A cablingWorking knowledge of structured cabling standards and installation practicesExperience installing cable pathways, racks, cabinets, and telecommunications infrastructureAbility to read and interpret construction drawings and wiring diagramsFamiliarity with copper cable testing and troubleshootingAbility to work independently and as part of a teamBasic computer proficiency for documentation and testingValid driver's license and reliable transportationAbility to travel to assigned project locations as requiredPreferred QualificationsExperience with single-mode and multimode fiber optic cablingFiber optic termination, fusion splicing, and testing experienceExperience using Fluke Networks copper and fiber certification equipmentFamiliarity with OTDR and fiber optic troubleshootingExperience working on data centers, hospitals, universities, schools, or large commercial construction projectsIndustry certifications such as BICSI, Panduit, CommScope, Corning, Leviton.Experience leading small crews, coordinating work activities, or assisting with project layoutAbility to troubleshoot and resolve cabling issues independentlyCompensationPay Range: $24.96–$43.00 per hourStarting pay is based on commercial experience, technical skills, certifications, qualifications, and applicable job classification.Higher compensation may be considered for candidates with advanced fiber optic experience, testing and troubleshooting expertise, manufacturer certifications, or proven leadership abilities.BenefitsCompetitive hourly wages based on experience and qualificationsEmployer-paid health and welfare benefits, subject to eligibility requirementsPaid Time Off (PTO)PTO accrual begins upon hireEligible employees may earn up to 7 days annually based on length of serviceWeekly pay via direct deposit401(k)/retirement contributions based on applicable classificationOpportunities for continued training, advancement, and career growthAlterman Technologies is an Equal Opportunity Employer.Equal Opportunity Employer This employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
