About the Position

Job Title: Emergency Department Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Emergency Department Duration: 8 weeks Shift: 12 hours Hours per Shift: 7 PM - 7 AM Experience: 2+ years License: RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS required; TNCC preferred Must-Have: Experience in combined adult and pediatric emergency care Description: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS certifications are required. TNCC is preferred. Minimum of 2 years of experience is required. Candidates must have experience in both adult and pediatric emergency care. Common diagnoses/types of patients include STEMI, stroke, sprains, sutures, and high acuity patients, including pediatrics. The emergency department does not have a separate pediatric area; patients are seen in all zones, which are mixed adult and pediatric. Candidates need to have flexibility to work both 3 PM - 3 AM and 7 PM - 7 AM shifts. Drip administration is required, including routine vasopressors, insulin, and sedation. Staffing ratios are typically 4:1 but may stretch to 5:1 during peak census times. Weekend commitment requires working 6 shifts in 6 weeks. Scrubs should be navy blue. Floating to a freestanding emergency department may be required. An Epic access is needed for this position. One major holiday commitment is expected.
