Phlebotomist

Phlebotomist Position: Phlebotomist (contract). Location: Sun City, CA and surrounding area (float job). Schedule: 6 AM to 6 PM, Monday‑Friday. 8‑hour shifts may require arriving at 6 AM or ending as late as 6 PM. Projected duration: 3 months. Pay rate: $20.20‑$22.20 per hour depending on experience. Benefits are available. Will float to Menifee, Perris, Hemmit, Temecula, Fall Brook, and Wildomar locations. Requires a clean driving record, reliable transportation (mileage expenses paid). Requires pediatric and geriatric experience. Summary: The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations. Responsibilities: Perform blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information. Collect and store specimens according to established procedures. Explain the venipuncture process or other specimen collection (e.g., urine, fecal) clearly and courteously. Demonstrate technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles. Understand and execute all physician orders. Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes, label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order. Check all test requisitions or computer label against script to ensure 100% accuracy. Package specimens for transport and store samples according to required temperature; use appropriate collection containers; accurately label specimens. Follow all procedures outlined by specific protocol for transport to maintain specimen integrity. Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations. Attend annual department trainings. Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries. Qualifications: Valid phlebotomy certification for the state where employed, as required in some states. Minimum of 6 months work experience performing venipunctures in a fast‑paced lab or hospital setting. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
