Human Resource Generalist

Position Summary The Human Resources Generalist is a vital point of contact for employees at all levels. The primary responsibility is the day‑to‑day management of HR activities, including payroll processing, employee relations, training, and development. The role works closely with the VP of Human Resources on all matters involving policy, compliance, and employee engagement. Primary Responsibilities Oversee the entire payroll process, ensuring accurate and timely payment of wages, bonuses, overtime, and deductions. Ensure compliance with payroll laws and regulations. Track and document mandatory and non‑mandatory training, continuing education, work assessments, and certifications. Collaborate with department managers to understand required skills and competencies for open positions. Recruit, screen, and facilitate the hiring of qualified applicants. Conduct or acquire background checks and eligibility verifications. Implement new‑hire orientation and employee recognition programs. Administer HR programs such as compensation, benefits, leave, disciplinary matters, investigations, productivity, recognition, morale, occupational health and safety, and training. Handle employment‑related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex matters to the VP of Human Resources. Attend and participate in disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations as needed. Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and recommend best practices; review policies accordingly. Stay informed about trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in HR, talent management, and employment law. Generate internal documents such as offer letters and compensation notices. Create onboarding plans and educate new hires on HR policies and procedures. Maintain physical and digital employee files, benefits and attendance records. Develop engagement plans, obtain budget approval, and initiate activities. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Extensive knowledge of ADP and payroll processing. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict‑resolution skills. Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail. Excellent time‑management skills with proven ability to meet deadlines. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills. Ability to prioritize tasks. Act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality. Thorough knowledge of employment laws and regulations. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Proficiency with, or ability to quickly learn, the organization’s HRIS and talent‑management systems. Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred. SHRM certification is a plus. 3+ years of experience in human resources. Ability to develop and manage relationships at all levels of the company. High level of customer service skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Capacity to apply discretion and maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
