Telecommunications Engineer Specialist - Journeyman

Leidos Digital Modernization sector is currently looking for a Telecommunications Engineer, Journeyman at Langley AFB, Hampton, VA to support the Mission Partner Environment (MPE) Operations Maintenance and Sustainment (OM&S) program. This role is integral to implementing and maintaining advanced telecommunications infrastructure that underpins a dynamic, globally distributed intelligence‑sharing environment. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise and a strong understanding of secure communications systems in support of complex, multinational operations. Technical Primary Role Support Coalition Integration Lab’s engineering and testing requirements Support and deployment of US BICES bi‑lat systems and networking strategy & planning Collaborate with network staff to ensure smooth and reliable operation of software and systems for fulfilling business objectives and processes Work with executive team members, decision makers, and stakeholders to define business requirements and systems goals, and to identify and resolve business systems issues Acquisition & Deployment Design and define network architecture for new or existing computer systems Perform complex network development and design work Participate in upgrading of operating systems and design of network enhancements Provide input for documentation on new or existing networks Develop and conduct tests to ensure networks meet documented user requirements Operational Management Identify, analyze, and resolve network problems Provide network/equipment/specialized training and technical guidance Determine network specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility May provide guidance and leadership to less‑experienced systems engineers Maintain current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned Possess comprehensive knowledge of network engineering principles, methods, and techniques Knowledge of the associated hardware, software, and equipment Participate in special projects as assigned Position may require short‑term deployments to AFRICOM AOR Mandatory Skills Cisco F5 Firepower High Assurance Internet Protocol Encryptor (HAIPE) IOS‑XE Juniper NSX Basic Qualifications Must possess and maintain a Secret Security Clearance BA/BS degree & 2+ years experience – additional experience may substitute degree Must possess a completed CCNA certification Must meet DOD 8750 requirements and be eligible for IAT level II (Sec+, GSEC, SSCP or CCNA SEC) access upon hire; must obtain ITIL V4 Foundation within six months of hire Knowledge and experience with data center networking Ability to configure and troubleshoot Multicast Experience with firewalls and firewall rule sets Understanding of network virtualization Basic understanding of Broadcom’s NSX‑T Knowledge and experience with F5‑OS and F5 BIG‑IP’s LTM and APM Knowledge and experience with routing and switching protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, Spanning Tree Protocol, ISAKMP, ESP, SIP, SCCP, etc.) Knowledge and experience with HAIPE‑based encryption devices Knowledge and experience with maintaining COMSEC accounts Knowledge and experience with current Juniper JUNOS software and hardware Knowledge and experience with current Cisco IOS, IOS‑XE and NXOS software and hardware Knowledge and experience with Firepower Management Center and Firepower Threat Defense Ability to configure and troubleshoot DMVPN and GRE tunnels Ability to work in a team‑oriented, collaborative environment Ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced environment and multi‑task while ensuring high quality of work Highly organized with strong ability to prioritize work and work autonomously Excellent verbal and written communication skills Great attention to detail and presentation Results driven, highly efficient, energetic, and highly motivated Must possess a high degree of intelligence, competence, maturity, adaptability, resilience, integrity, and initiative Work may require some physical effort handling light materials, boxes, or equipment Preferred Qualifications Completed any CISCO Advanced certifications Completed any JUNIPER Advanced certifications Knowledge of virtualization technologies: VMware, Citrix, and Microsoft Knowledge of automation technologies for networking (Ansible/Python) Understanding of concepts presented in the VMware Data Center Virtualization Fundamentals course Understanding of VxRail Manager and best practices VDI experience highly desired Commitment to Non-Discrimination : All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to sex, race, ethnicity, age, national origin, citizenship, religion, physical or mental disability, medical condition, genetic information, pregnancy, family structure, marital status, ancestry, domestic partner status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, veteran or military status, or any other basis prohibited by law. #J-18808-Ljbffr
