Job Title: BUDGET SUPPORT SPECIALIST (COUNTY) Posting Start Date: 7/28/26 Job Description Header: Requisition ID: 23418 Work Location: REGIONAL SUPERINTENDENT - SOUTH REGION City: Job Description: POSITION GOAL To assure that all budgets, internal accounts, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll accounts are kept accurately and funds are spent properly in a responsible and accurate manner. ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES The Budget Support Specialist shall carry out the performance responsibilities listed below. Advise, assist and provide leadership to bookkeepers, budgetkeepers, invoice processors, cashiers and other personnel involved with financial recordkeeping and/or payroll maintenance. Assist in the establishment of budgets and budgeting procedures. Provide information to administrators and supervisors to assist with interpreting and applying budgetary information. Prepare periodic reports for administrators and curriculum supervisors. If required by location, assist the registrar with adult registration. If required by location, supervise school's bookstore; collect monies and assume the responsibility for the banking of monies received from bookstore and any fund raising projects. If required by location, dispense student loans and grants. If required by location, prepare book orders and control inventory on same; take monthly inventory. Receive equipment and materials and arrange for distribution to the proper department. Maintain and update inventory lists and assist in taking inventories. Perform duties of subordinate personnel, as required. Review government grant funds requirements and maintain accurate and current accounting of funds. Contact other school district departments, government agencies and vendors to provide or request information. Maintain office supplies and prepare requests for repairs and services. If required by location, monitor and reconcile balances of saving accounts and certificates of deposit. If required by location, interact effectively with the general public, staff members, students, teachers, parents, and administrators, using tact and good judgment. Perform and promote all activities in compliance with the equal employment and non-discrimination policies of The School Board of Broward County, Florida. Participate in training programs offered to enhance the individual skills and proficiency related to job responsibilities. Review current developments, literature and technical sources of information related to job responsibilities. Ensure adherence to safety rules and procedures. Follow federal and state, as well as School Board policies. Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor or designee. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE Standard high school diploma or satisfactory completion of an approved General Educational Development (GED) Testing Program. Minimum of seven (7) years of experience and/or training in a field related to the title of the position. OR Standard high school diploma or satisfactory completion of an approved General Educational Development (GED) Testing Program At least sixty (60) semester college credit hours from an accredited institution. Minimum of five (5) years of experience and/or training in a field related to the title of the position. AND Must be able to analyze data and make rational decisions based on facts. Computer skills as required for the position. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE Bilingual skills preferred. • The hiring administrator may specify preferred, appropriate additional qualifications as may be related to the job. SIGNIFICANT CONTACTS-frequency, contact, purpose PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently as needed to move objects. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District's approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the School Board.
