The City of Greenacres' Compensation Plan allows for hiring at a maximum rate of up to 15% above the minimum range for the position based on education, experience and valid proof of certification(s) that are obtained through extensive program of study and training over and above the minimum requirements. Salary is based on FY27 which is effective 10-1-26. Thank you for your interest in employment with the City of Greenacres. You must be able to meet the minimum following requirements:

• Must have graduated from an accredited high school or have obtained a State of Florida G.E.D. certificate or equivalent.
• Must possess and maintain a valid State of Florida driver's license.
• Must be of good moral character.
• Must submit to a post-offer physical examination. The offer of employment will be contingent on the results of testing and/or examinations.

Position Summary: Technical work performing field inspections and plan reviews of buildings and structures to ensure structural safety; checking projects for defects, omissions, and violations of city, state or federal codes and regulations; interpreting plans and specifications; answering questions from contractors, and the general public on the technical requirements of the codes. Operates with considerable independence and initiative.

• Reviews permit applications, plans, and documentation for compliance with Building and City codes and regulations.
• Inspects structural installations, equipment and components for conformance with laws and ordinances, and technical conformance with local, state and federal codes/ordinances for model standard building codes; makes recommendations for local requirements.
• Ensures that the contractor has secured applicable permits prior to making inspections.
• Ensures that licensed, registered contractors perform construction work.
• Interacts with the general public regarding inspection procedures and requirements.
• Prepares reports, inputs data entry of inspections, notes, completion dates, stop work orders and maintains records of work performed.
• Follows up on complaints, violations and their satisfactory completion.
• Stays informed of code changes affecting building system installations.
• Appears before the Code Enforcement Board or Special Magistrate to present testimony and evidence pertaining to violations.
• Perform Business Tax Receipt inspections.
• Perform applicable construction site NPDES and illicit discharge inspections.
• Monitors and obtains the appropriate type and amount of continuing education hours required for all certifications.
• Supervises and provides audit inspection of private inspectors.
• Performs Supervisory and administrative duties as assigned by the Building Official.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Work independently on complex assignments. Recognize and explain when plans, drawings, blueprints, specifications and related documents are not in conformance with specific codes, ordinances and standards.
• Consult with architects, engineers, building owners, contractors and others on regulatory and inspection matters.
• Understand and interpret various City codes and regulations.
• Handle complaints in a courteous and effective manner.
• Prepare and maintain accurate records, reports and files.
• Research of public records using local, state and federal resources.
• Follow safety rules and regulations of the Department and the City.
• Maintain high standards for professional and ethical conduct.
