Job Duties Serve as psychiatric social worker for patients and their families, providing clinical social work services such as psychiatric and psychosocial assessments, therapeutic interventions, psycho‑education, family intervention, patient advocacy, and discharge planning tailored to the needs of patients. Conduct initial evaluations and psychosocial assessments and establish individualized and measurable treatment goals. Form a therapeutic relationship with patients and maintain a neutral therapeutic stance. Provide individual, family, and group treatment modalities and techniques appropriate to an inpatient treatment setting. Provide knowledge base of bio‑psychosocial model, DSM‑IV diagnoses, and behavioral risk factors. Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, communicate effectively, and apply supervisory feedback into practice. Manage clinical, discharge planning, and documentation requirements within assigned LOS of inpatient hospitalization. Preferred Criteria Knowledge of Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT). Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). Limited Permit (must supply exam date prior to start of employment). Fieldwork or previous experience in a psychiatric setting. Required Criteria Master's Degree in Social Work (MSW). Licensed Masters Social Work (LMSW) by the state of NY within 1 year of hire. Knowledge base of DSM‑IV diagnoses, criteria for treatment of different diagnoses in an acute care setting, behavioral risk factors and the impact of mental illness upon individual and family functioning. Competency in individual, family and group treatment modalities and treatment techniques appropriate to an inpatient treatment setting.
