Technical Program Manager

About the Opportunity

Prevail Recruiting is partnering with an early-stage energy hardware company seeking a hands-on Technical Program Manager to own the master product roadmap and build the systems that keep multiple hardware programs moving.

This is more than project coordination. You'll connect engineering execution to customer commitments, make sequencing and resource tradeoffs, and build AI-enabled tools that improve visibility while reducing administrative work.


This is a senior individual-contributor role with no direct reports. You'll lead through influence, technical credibility, and clear accountability.


What You'll Do

• Own the product roadmap. Maintain an integrated plan across hardware programs, including milestones, dependencies, resource priorities, and customer-facing commitments.
• Build the engineering operating cadence. Establish focused planning and review routines that produce decisions, clear owners, and follow-through-not just status updates.
• Create AI-powered tools and workflows. Build self-updating dashboards, automated reporting, and integrations that connect project-management and engineering systems.
• Drive hardware execution and surface risks early. Navigate mechanical, electrical, firmware, supplier, and manufacturing dependencies from prototype through pilot and production transition. Identify potential delays and develop mitigation plans before they become emergencies.
• Communicate clearly with leadership. Translate technical complexity into concise updates on delivery dates, risks, tradeoffs, and decisions needed.

What You'll Bring

• A track record of personally owning complex hardware roadmaps and delivery commitments-not simply maintaining schedules set by others.
• Experience bringing physical products through prototyping, pilot builds, new product introduction, and production transition, including supplier constraints, testing failures, and system integration.
• Demonstrated hands-on AI and automation experience. You've personally built workflows, scripts, dashboards, integrations, or lightweight tools and can explain how they worked and what they improved.
• The ability to influence senior engineers without formal authority, make practical tradeoffs, and create structure in a fast-moving environment.

Relevant tooling includes Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, SQL, APIs, and modern AI development tools. Direct power-generation experience is not required ; strong hardware backgrounds in aerospace, defense, EVs, robotics, semiconductor equipment, or other complex electromechanical products are welcome.
