Pediatric Allergist/Immunologist Physician
Detroit Medical Center
Job Summary Children's Hospital of Michigan has been a cornerstone of pediatric care since 1886 — the first and largest children's hospital in the state and a nationally ranked institution recognized by U.S. News & World Report. As a proud member of the Detroit Medical Center, CHM carries an international reputation in pediatric medicine, surgery, and research, training more pediatricians than any other facility in Michigan. The Division of Allergy, Asthma, Immunology and Rheumatology is growing, and this is your opportunity to join a collaborative, academically engaged team with real infrastructure behind it — including an infusion center, dedicated research support, and active multicenter clinical trials. Position Highlights Full-time, employed position with an 80% clinical effort and 20% protected academic time dedicated to teaching, research, quality improvement, and program development Join a team of six Allergy/Immunology faculty members, two Pediatric Rheumatologists, four Allergy/Immunology fellows, specialized allergy/immunology nursing staff, social workers, asthma-focused advanced practice support, and an established SCID newborn screening program. Balanced clinical schedule with 6–7 half-day clinics per week. Approximately 5-7 days of inpatient allergy/immunology/asthma consult service per month. Shared home call responsibilities with no in-house call requirements. Average weekend inpatient consult coverage is 1 every 4-5 weeks. Patient populations include pediatric and adult patients with a broad spectrum of allergic and immunologic diseases. Academic appointment with the Department of Pediatrics, Central Michigan University College of Medicine. Additional opportunities for inter-institutional teaching and research collaboration with Michigan State University and Wayne State University School of Medicine. What We Offer Competitive compensation commensurate with experience Malpractice insurance provided Health, dental, and life insurance 401(k) with employer matching Deferred compensation program Relocation assistance Dedicated support staff including on-site social workers, Allergy/Immunology-specialized RNs, medical office assistants Robust academic environment with teaching, research, and administrative protected time Candidate Requirements Board certification by the American Board of Pediatrics and/or American Board of Internal Medicine Fellowship training in Allergy/Immunology with board eligibility or board certification in the subspecialty Eligibility to obtain Michigan medical licensure Strong interest in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows Interest in quality improvement, education, research, and program development is encouraged Experience or interest in food allergy and oral immunotherapy is welcomed Why Detroit Detroit is a city in full stride — a revitalized urban core with world-class dining, a thriving arts and music scene, and major sports anchoring community pride year-round. Neighborhoods like Midtown, Corktown, and Royal Oak offer distinct personalities and genuinely affordable housing compared to most major metro markets, making it an easy place to put down roots. The broader metro area provides strong public and private school options, and proximity to the Great Lakes means outdoor recreation is never far away. For physicians who want the energy of a major city without the cost of living to match, Detroit consistently delivers. Equal Employment Opportunity Employment practices will not be influenced or affected by an applicant’s or employee’s race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy), national origin, age, disability, genetic information, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, veteran status or any other legally protected status.
