Position Summary/Purpose:

As a medical-surgical nurse, you will be at the forefront of delivering exceptional care to patients undergoing surgical procedures or receiving treatment in the medical-surgical unit. In this pivotal role, you'll collaborate closely with physicians, surgeons, and a multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure comprehensive care for patients with a wide range of medical conditions. Your expertise in clinical skills, meticulous attention to detail, and effective communication will be essential in providing the highest standard of care.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess and monitor patients' health conditions by conducting physical examinations and reviewing medical histories.
• Administer medications and treatments prescribed by physicians.
• Monitor vital signs, such as blood pressure, heart rate, and oxygen saturation, and report any significant changes to the healthcare team.
• Assist surgeons and physicians during surgical procedures by providing necessary instruments, sterile supplies, and medications.
• Perform various nursing procedures, including wound care, catheterization, and tube feedings.
• Educate patients and their families about post-operative care, medications, and lifestyle modifications.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members to develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Maintain accurate and detailed medical records and documentation.
• Respond promptly to emergencies and provide immediate care to stabilize patients.
• Ensure compliance with infection control protocols and maintain a safe and clean environment for patients.

Qualifications:

• Minimum Education: Graduate of Accredited School of Nursing (Diploma, AD)
• Required Licensure / Certification: Registered Nurse (RN), CPR-BCLS, ACLS is required before completion of orientation, NIH Stroke Scale required before completion of orientation.
• Required Skills / Knowledge / Abilities: Maintains professional appearance at all times. Ability to handle confidential information.
