Requisition No: 878102 Agency: Department of Health Working Title: ENVIRONMENTAL SPECIALIST II - 64054703 1 Position Number: 64054703 Salary: $44,487.03 - $48,935.72 Annually This Specialist II level position is responsible for coordination of the OSTDS operating permit program, permit review and issuance, and the partial direction of ES I staff with regard to all operating permit requirements. Responsible for dealing with public, contractors, and other professionals regarding all aspects of FAC 64E-6 and demonstrating expertise in this area. Responsibilities Instruct, assist, and direct program staff. Review work product and proper documentation, and enter information into all necessary databases. Assist with and provide solutions to issues involving staff and OSTDS program requirements. Review permitting and direct staff (ESI) regarding all aspects of operating permit requirements, including official notices and potential legal action and coordination with district legal counsel. Apply knowledge and implementation of local City/County Codes/Ordinances that pertain to permitting and regulation of OSTDS. Apply expertise in all onsite sewage program rules and regulations (both state and local). Notify clients and maintenance entities regarding operating permit status and requirements. Educate other agencies, the public, contractors, clients, and staff in all aspects of OSTDS. Participate on councils, workgroups, etc. within DOH-Hillsborough County. Minimum Qualifications Internal posting: only current Department of Health employees may apply. Bachelor's degree in natural or earth science or equivalent with at least 30 approved hours of science credits; a bachelor's degree is required per F.S. §381.0065(8)(c)1 and §381.0101 to be a Certified Environmental Health Professional (CEHP). Transcripts required before interview. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for field use. 2 years of work experience with customer service aspects or training. Capacity to perform strenuous field activities, including lifting 55 lbs. and climbing in/exiting excavations exceeding 24 inches in depth. Preferred Qualifications Current certification by Florida DOH in all aspects of OSTDS.

1. year of experience with OSTDS Operating Permit requirements/inspections.
2. years of work experience within the OSTDS program.

2 years of work experience within the environmental health field (DOH preferred). Experience with Environmental Health Database and OSTDS specifications data entry. Experience with Hillsborough County rules and ordinances regarding OSTDS requirements. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities FDOH Certification necessary for regulation, inspection, and enforcement of FAC 64E-6 for onsite sewage treatment and disposal systems.
