Project Manager – Electronic Security Systems

SMX Services & Consulting is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead electronic security system projects supporting a U.S. Government courthouse security initiative.

This role will support the planning, design, procurement, and implementation of electronic security systems for federal courthouse projects. The successful candidate will work closely with government stakeholders, architects, engineers, and security contractors to ensure projects are delivered on time and meet federal security standards.

Although primarily remote, this position requires travel for meetings, site visits, design reviews, and project coordination.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage electronic security system projects for federal facilities.
• Support project planning, scope development, and design reviews.
• Coordinate with government agencies, engineers, architects, and contractors.
• Review security systems including:
• Access Control
• Video Surveillance (CCTV)
• Intrusion Detection
• Duress Alarm Systems
• Intercom & Emergency Communications
• Alarm Monitoring Systems
• Review design documents at the 60%, 75%, and 90% design phases.
• Provide technical recommendations and quality assurance feedback.
• Support procurement activities, contractor evaluations, and proposal reviews.
• Assist with contractor onboarding and project kickoff.
• Track schedules, risks, action items, and project decisions.
• Review technical submittals, testing plans, commissioning documents, and project closeout documentation.
• Maintain clear communication with all project stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with federal security and documentation requirements.

Required Qualifications

• U.S. Citizen
• Minimum 10 years of Project Management experience with electronic security systems.
• Experience managing projects involving:
• Design
• Installation
• System Integration
• Testing
• Commissioning
• Project Closeout
• Managed at least three similar projects within the past five years.
• At least two projects supporting:
• Federal facilities
• Courthouses
• Judicial facilities
• Law enforcement facilities
• Other high-security environments
• Strong knowledge of:
• Access Control
• CCTV
• Intrusion Detection
• Duress Alarms
• Intercom Systems
• Emergency Communications
• Integrated Security Systems
• Ability to review technical drawings, specifications, and design documents.
• Strong communication and project coordination skills.
• Willingness to travel as required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting:
• U.S. Marshals Service
• GSA
• Federal courthouse projects
• Judicial facilities
• Law enforcement agencies
• Experience reviewing designs at the 60%, 75%, and 90% stages.
• Experience supporting federal procurement and technical evaluations.
• Experience reviewing Independent Government Cost Estimates (IGCE).
• Experience with commissioning, acceptance testing, contractor onboarding, and project closeout.
• Certifications such as:
• PMP
• PSP
• CPP
• RCDD
• Manufacturer security certifications

• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Must be eligible to access federal facilities.
• Must successfully complete required background checks and badging.
• Must properly handle sensitive government project information.
• All experience and certifications must be accurately represented.

Compensation

• $93.68–$96.74/hour
• Pay is based on experience, qualifications, certifications, and travel availability.
