RN Rehab Med/Surg Float

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse (RN) will primarily work in the Rehab unit with responsibilities to float to the Medical/Surgical unit as needed. This role involves providing professional nursing care, executing provider orders, and maintaining comprehensive clinical documentation. The RN will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, participate in quality improvement initiatives, and support a culture of safety and well-being. The position requires maintaining current licensure and certifications, effective communication, and leadership in patient care and team development. Responsibilities:

• Provide professional nursing care to patients in Rehab and Med/Surg units according to provider orders.
• Complete comprehensive clinical documentation including care plans each shift.
• Communicate patient information through bedside shift reports, multidisciplinary rounds, and hourly rounding.
• Promote a positive and safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff by following established procedures and protocols.
• Identify and assist in correcting patient care safety issues; participate in daily unit-based safety huddles.
• Participate in quality initiatives and performance improvement projects to enhance patient outcomes.
• Collaborate with nurses across departments to share expertise and provide comprehensive care.
• Serve as a preceptor for new nurses and assist in orientation and training.
• Delegate nursing tasks appropriately and supervise nursing personnel and assistants.
• Engage in peer feedback processes, employee engagement surveys, and shared governance activities.
• Complete required training such as dysrhythmia course and Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training.
• Maintain current nursing licensure and certifications required for the department.
• Perform additional duties consistent with the role, including occupational health tasks such as ordering labs and documenting point of care tests.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Current Registered Nurse license in New Hampshire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Graduate of an approved Nursing program preferred.
• Basic Dysrhythmia knowledge or completion of dysrhythmia course prior to orientation completion.
• Strong clinical nursing skills in Rehab and Medical/Surgical care.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training or willingness to obtain prior to orientation completion.
• Experience or familiarity with telemetry-based nursing care.
• Experience in quality improvement and performance goal development.

Special Considerations:

• Must comply with unit-specific competencies and complete all required learning modules within designated timeframes.
• Adherence to Just Culture principles for error reporting and patient safety.
• Participation in shared governance and organizational strategic initiatives.
• Avoidance of unauthorized overtime and adherence to Earned Time Off (ETO) policies.
• Ability to float between Rehab and Medical/Surgical units as needed.

Scheduling:

• Day shift schedule.
• Shift assignments determined based on unit needs with flexibility to float between Rehab and Med/Surg units.
