Job Title: Mig Welder

Job Description

This role focuses on production MIG welding in a manufacturing environment on components such as baskets and A-frames. You use your MIG welding experience and ability to read blueprints or weld symbols to produce consistent, high-quality welds. You must be able to pass a horizontal MIG welding test and a written assessment, with the potential to start in a laborer capacity while working toward passing the weld test.

Responsibilities

• Perform MIG welding on production components, including baskets and A-frames, to meet quality and safety standards.
• Read and interpret blueprints and weld symbols to understand project requirements and weld specifications.
• Pass and maintain proficiency in a horizontal MIG welding test and a written welding-related assessment.
• Use grinding tools to clean, smooth, and finish welds as required by project specifications.
• Measure materials accurately using a tape measure and apply basic math skills to ensure proper dimensions and fit.
• Assist with fabrication tasks related to welding projects, including preparing materials and positioning workpieces.
• Follow established production processes and meet output goals in a high-volume manufacturing setting.
• Maintain consistent and reliable attendance to support production schedules and team workflow.
• Adhere to all safety procedures and guidelines while operating welding and fabrication equipment.
• Collaborate with team members and supervisors to resolve issues and improve welding quality and efficiency.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 6 months of MIG welding experience in a production or similar environment.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and weld symbols accurately.
• Capability to pass a horizontal MIG welding test.
• Ability to pass a written test related to welding knowledge and procedures.
• Proficiency with MIG welding equipment and techniques.
• Basic math skills to calculate measurements and dimensions.
• Ability to use a tape measure accurately for layout and verification.
• Experience with grinding tools for weld cleanup and finishing.
• Reliability in attendance and punctuality to support consistent production.
• Strong attention to detail to produce high-quality, consistent welds.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in a manufacturing or production welding environment.
• Experience in fabrication work, including material preparation and fit-up.
• Comfort working on standardized products such as baskets and A-frames.
• Willingness to start in a laborer role if weld test requirements are not immediately met, with motivation to improve and qualify as a welder.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and respond clearly to questions about welding experience, blueprint proficiency, and attendance history.

Work Environment

The role is based in a manufacturing facility focused on production welding, operating on a 3rd shift schedule. Work involves repetitive MIG welding on standardized components in a high-volume environment, using welding machines, grinding tools, and measuring equipment. The setting emphasizes safety, efficiency, and adherence to production targets, with typical industrial conditions such as noise and the need for appropriate protective gear.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bedford, PA.

The pay range for this position is $21.57 - $23.07/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
