Security Officer

Location: Aspen, CO 81612 Employment Type: Full-Time Pay: $29.00 per hour Available Schedules: 6:00 PM - 2:00 AM 7:30 PM - 3:30 AM (Full-time schedules available seven days per week; assigned shifts total approximately 40 hours weekly.) Position Overview Citadel Security USA is seeking dependable Unarmed Transit Security Officers to support evening operations serving the Roaring Fork Transportation Authority (RFTA) in Aspen. This position focuses on promoting a safe, welcoming environment for transit operators, employees, passengers, and members of the public while maintaining a visible security presence throughout assigned locations. Successful candidates are professional communicators who enjoy working with the public and can confidently address safety concerns while delivering outstanding customer service. Primary Responsibilities Transit Safety Maintain a visible security presence aboard transit vehicles and at designated transit facilities. Help foster a safe environment for drivers, transit employees, passengers, and visitors. Observe daily operations and report suspicious activity, unsafe conditions, or policy violations. Monitor boarding areas, transit stops and surrounding public spaces. Customer Assistance Interact respectfully with passengers while providing exceptional customer service. Offer assistance and general guidance when appropriate. Help encourage compliance with transit rules and operational policies. Support a positive experience for community members utilizing public transportation. Patrol & Incident Response Conduct routine patrols of assigned transit locations. Respond professionally to disturbances, safety concerns, or security-related incidents. Notify supervisors or emergency responders when situations require additional assistance. Follow all client procedures and company post orders. Documentation & Communication Complete accurate daily activity reports and incident documentation. Record security observations, unusual events, and operational concerns. Maintain regular communication with supervisors throughout each shift. Protect confidential operational information while exercising sound judgment. Required Qualifications Strong verbal and written communication skills. Professional customer service experience. Ability to remain calm and composed during challenging situations. Reliable attendance and punctuality. Ability to work independently while maintaining situational awareness. Successful completion required background screening. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience in security, customer service, public transportation, hospitality, or public safety. Experience working in environments with frequent public interaction. Strong conflict resolution and de-escalation abilities. Familiarity with incident reporting and security documentation. Work Environment Public transit vehicles and transportation facilities. Frequent interaction with drivers, employees, passengers, and community members. Combination of standing, walking, and mobile patrol duties. Evening and overnight assignments require consistent awareness and professionalism. Indoor and outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
