Pharmacy Graduate Intern (Non-US Education)

Job Overview Engages in post‑graduate pharmacy activities under direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist to meet State Board of Pharmacy requirements. Provides pharmacy consulting services to customers regarding medication use, drug interactions, and preventive healthcare services such as immunizations. Ensures proper compounding, dispensation, review, and verification of prescribed medications within regulatory guidelines, company policies, and procedures. Supports efficient pharmacy workflow and assists the pharmacy manager in optimizing financials, inventory management, and customer experience. Customer Experience Greets customers and patients, offers assistance, resolves issues, and answers questions to ensure a positive experience. Models best customer‑service practices for team members, including greeting, eye contact, courtesy, and proactive need identification. Builds strong relationships with high‑value customers by anticipating needs and proactively offering services, thereby shifting pharmacy role from transactional to interpersonal. Participates in community events requested by management. Operations Under a licensed pharmacist, counsels patients on medication usage, side effects, interactions, and other relevant topics, and refers to medical providers as needed. Performs compounding, drug therapy reviews, verification, and medication management tasks. Accurately interprets and dispenses prescribed medications. Maintains compliance with regulations, policies, and Good Faith Dispensing policy, especially regarding controlled substances. Manages opening and closing duties and shift changes. Uses and enhances pharmacy information technology systems to support customers and staff. Processes insurance claims, follows up with insurers and providers, and participates in audits. Provides retail, clinical, and wellness services, including immunizations, flu shots, and diabetes awareness. Analyzes performance data for financial, service, and inventory metrics; reviews KPIs with management. Builds relationships with the local medical community and supports outreach to promote growth. Partners with Central Pharmacy Operations for customer registration, third‑party reviews, and virtual product reviews. People & Performance Management Assists the Pharmacy Manager with hiring, training, performance coaching, and employee development. Promotes teamwork, motivates staff, sets expectations, monitors progress, and recognizes achievements. Training & Personal Development Maintains current pharmacy and healthcare knowledge through journals, publications, and communications. Obtains necessary certifications and continuing education such as People Plus Learning modules. Pursues professional development, seeks feedback, and uses managers as mentors. Communications Supports managers by communicating corporate health and wellness strategy information to pharmacy staff. Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy from an accredited university outside the United States. Foreign Pharmacist Graduate Equivalency Certificate (FPGEC). Intern permit or certificate issued by the relevant Board of Pharmacy, if required. Willingness to obtain pharmacist licensure within 45 days of completing intern hours. Certified immunizer or readiness to become one within 90 days of hire. Preferred Qualifications The employer will consider qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records.
